What is a wildfire?

Wildfire is a disaster which presents great danger to national parks, forests, and all sorts of national treasure.

Sometimes, wildfires are created because of flammable objects which people leave behind in nature. Other causes may be natural, or intentional. If somebody intentionally starts a fire, he is considered a criminal, and can be punished by law.

To prevent wildfires, we must alarm the firefighters! You might prevent a disaster. In Croatia, you can dial 112, or the number 93. The number 112 is the chosen and selected number for entire Europe. In the USA, that number ir 911.

If people have reacted earlier, the disaster on Kornati Islands wouldn't have happened. There was a big wildfire, and 13 firefighters were sent there to put the fire out. The wind has changed its direction, and an eruptive wave of fire burned them all. They were transported to hospital, where, unfortunately, 12 of them died. One of them has survived to tell their terrifying story.

Even today, months after the event, we are mourning the loss their families and this country have suffered.

You might be the one to prevent disasters like this one. To save innocent lives, don't hesitate to alarm the firefighters, because wildfires are dangerous.
